Marathons and ultramarathons grew massively in Egypt over the past years. They grew to the point that it became an ongoing trend. This led to the creation and the presence of multiple marathon and ultramarathons organizers all over Egypt, from the north to the south of Egypt. Some of those organizers are well known for the organization of an annually run that takes place at the same site every year and eventually they became the hit of the season!

Throughout the years, certain organizers became the top marathons and ultramarathons planners and they were well known for some of their major events, that not only invites locals and residents, but also invites runners from all over the world to take part in their top-notch events that showcases the Egyptian cultures as well as raising awareness about the environment and even run for a cause.

Now we will be showing the top 5 marathons and ultramarathons organizers, and some of their top almost annual events in Egypt!

1-   The TriFactory:

The TriFactory is a well-known sports management company. It does not only focus small teams and, sports that require a small group, but it rather organise sports events that attracts thousands of people in which they can participate in. The Trifactory was founded in 2015, since then it kept growing in fast pace that it became one of the leading mass participations sports events organisers in Egypt. 

They obtained all the necessary licenses from the ministry of youth and sports in order to be able to organize those events. They reach around 1500 race registrations from beginners to athletes of all ages and abilities.

Pyramids Half Marathon

They organize some of the most well-known runs in Egypt. The first one is the Pyramids Half Marathon that will take place this year on the 10^th of December 2022 at the Giza Pyramids. This half marathon has 3 different distances that fits every runner based on their abilities. The first distance is a 10 Km race, the second one is a 6Km Run and the last one is a 5Km run.

Gouna Half Marathon

The second well known event is the Gouna Half Marathon, this is a race that takes place annually in the beautiful Gouna town by the Red Sea since 2019. This year this event took place in November, and it has 4 different distances. The first distance which is the longest, is the 21K, the second one is the 10K, the third one is the 5K and the last one which is directed to the kids is the 1K run.

Madinaty Half Marathon

The third one is the Madinaty Half Marathon, it takes place in Madinaty every year. The upcoming race will be in may 2023. This race groups residents of Madinaty with people from all over Egypt and from all over the World. They have 4 different distances that include a 21.1K, 10K, 5K and lastly a 3K for fun.

Trailmaster

They also organize trail run that takes place Wadi degla that is called “Trailmaster”. This race took place in September the 16^th 2022. It gives a whole new adventure, not like the other marathons. It is called a trail marathon, because it doesn’t takes place on a flat surface or route, but rather in the desert of wadi degla protectorate where they could come in contact with the beautiful nature and the different species of animals and crawlers that lives there as their natural habitat. 

This event includes multiple distances, starting with the longest one which is the 84K that they call the Trailmaster. The second distance is the 42K and they call it the Trailmararthoner, another distance is the 21K in which they call it the trailblazer. Now, for the last 2 distances are the 10K distance which is the Trailracer and lastly the 5K distance that is called the Trailsprinter. They also have the experience of the relay, that is based on a team in which they divide the distances and each one runs his part of the race.

2-   Cairo Runners

Cairo Runners is one of the top running organizers in Egypt like the TriFactory. The organize and host multiple runs every year. Aside from the organization of weekly runs to prepare for the marathons and ultramarathons over the years, the also host their own ultramarathons.

This race takes place in Cairo, Heliopolis every year during May, and they usually get more than 7000 registrations to this race. This race includes multiple distances that fits each person and every group such as the 21K Half marathon, as well as the 10Km run, the 5Km fun run. Also, the runs specific for families and the differently abled run. After this amazing experience, they have their own after party to celebrate the ending of the race.

3-   UltraEgypt

UltraEgypt is the first company in Egypt to organize trail ultramarathons. They do not only host those races, but they also choose the most beautiful and natural sites from all over Egypt. They aim to provide the experience of an ultramarathon with the learning process of the different cultural related aspects that are related to the sites of the race. They go with the moto of protecting the environment and learning about it as well. They hosted 2 different ultramarathons annually and are now part of the UTMB index.

Hathor Trail UltraMarathon

The first ultramarathon that includes the longest distance is Hathor ultramarathon that takes place in Serabit el khadem, it includes a distance of 130Km,100KM, 50Km and 20Km distance, but they also have the experience of a relay for those who want to run in teams.

Qarun Trail UltraMarathon

The second race is the Qarun trail ultramarathon that takes place in Fayoum and will take place in March 2023. This race is organized at the lake Qarun which is the biggest lake in Fayoum that is surrounded with magnificent historical and natural views. This race includes 2 different distances and they are the 44KM and the 66Km races. They also have the experience of the relay, in which pairs can divide the 44Km race and each one complete his specific distances.

4-   Egyptian Marathon

Egyptian Marathon

The Egyptian Marathon are the oldest marathons organizers in Egypt. They host their annual race in Luxor, which represents the city that screams Pharos. This is the place that shows the pharaonic culture and their beautiful temples and artefacts. This marathon attracts all kinds of residents and tourists due to its magnificent site. They provide distances and each distance is named after a pharaonic monument. The distances include 5Km, 12Km, 22.3Km and lastly 42.2Km marathon.

Pharaonic Marathon

The other Marathon, is more of an ultramarathon that starts from the Pyramids of Giza to the Fayoum. It’s a distance of 100Km and it could be run by single person and a relay of the distance.

5-   Alex Runners

Alex runners is the last organizing company on our list. They organize events that will take place on Alexandrian waters. They organize runs for causes and for the experience. They have multiple distances, which include 42.2Km, 21.1KM,10Km 5Km, a 2Km for families and lastly a 1K for kids.
